Save Internet Radio bill ! - Rusty Hodge (SOMA FM)
-
We are finally starting get some attention from Congress about these unfair royalty fees that net radio stations are being forced to pay to the RIAA.
The House Judiciary Committee Chairman James Sensenbrenner, R-Wis., today introduced legislation, H.R. 5469, imposing a six-month moratorium on royalties that webcasters must pay when they stream digital music.
-The bill will delay until April 20, 2003, the payments that webcasters would have been required to pay starting Oct. 20, 2002. If H.R. 5469 does not pass, there is little or no chance for us to win our appeal of the CARP ruling. HR 5469 will give the appeals court a chance to rule on the decision before the fees put almost all web broadcasters out of business...

Is Ecstasy Harmful ?
News analysis: Is ecstasy harmful?
Scientists struggle to provide an answer

Despite high-profile cases such as the death of Leah Betts, one million people a week still take Britain's favourite dance drug.
- Exactly what does ecstasy do to the brain? And are those effects good, bad, or indifferent? To the estimated one million people who take the drug each weekend, one could guess that the answers are: it gives you energy to dance; you feel "loved up"; it's good. But a growing body of scientific evidence suggests that it's bad in the long term and almost always bad in the short term. But many of the people who take "E" – which has enjoyed a dancefloor revival in the past year or so – do not heed those warnings....

SASHA ROCKS YOU ON AIR
A+A SHULGIN RADIO MISSION's on AIR !!!
"Self Medication and Psychotherapy"
Who among us doesn't yearn for spiritual enlightenment, euphoria, or just an overwhelming sense of peace? "Sasha" Shulgin has made a 30-year career of it. But Shulgin's search is unique.
He's the patron saint of psychonauts. A chemist, he searches for compounds, keys to unlock the mind. In the 1960s, he rediscovered then championed the drug MDMA, better known as Ecstasy. And, as the War on Drugs scrambles to squelch American teens' X appetite, Shulgin works away at his lab, creating, mixing, and sampling, new concoctions.
Together he and his wife Ann are dedicated to a disciplined, if drugged, exploration of the subconscious, and they spread the word of their research in the name of safety, psychology, and spirit. Sasha and Ann Shulgin's acid test.

2 Articles Bout MDMA

- Ecstasy not dangerous, say scientists
Three leading psychologists have provoked an outcry by claiming that the dance drug ecstasy may not be dangerous and that some of its ill-effects may be imaginary.
The drug has been blamed for causing deaths and permanent brain damage, but the psychologists are strongly critical of animal and human studies into its effects, claiming that they are misleading and overestimate the harm ecstasy - scientifically known as MDMA - can cause. (The Guardian)

- Europe supplies world's ecstasy
Europe has become one of the biggest drug-producing regions in the world, according to new ecstasy seizure statistics from the US. The figures from the American Drugs Enforcement Administration reveal that more than 10 million ecstasy tablets were seized in the US last year, of which 80 per cent were manufactured in Europe. In 1999 the DEA seized three million tablets. In 1993 they seized 196.
The statistics reveal the boom in ecstasy production and export from Europe. In 2000, 27.5 million ecstasy tablets were among 10,000 kilos of drugs produced in Europe and seized overseas. In Europe 17m tablets were seized in 2000, 50 per cent more than in 1999.
The ecstasy smuggled from Europe to the US is worth more than £3 billion. Some comes from Britain or is trafficked by gangs with connections in the UK, according to European police sources. The massive production of ecstasy in Europe, particularly in and around the Dutch city Maastricht, is causing tensions between transatlantic law enforcement officials and policymakers.
