Check the lateset ER (Entheogen Review), Jon Hanna Has very Good Coments about "Him". A+ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ From ER on OCT/2002 - Confessions of a Dope Dealer is a whirlwind ride through the life of SHELDON NORBERG, during his years as a professional drug dealer. From his teen-aged introduction to Cannabis and LSD, to high school hijinks, GRATEFUL DEAD concerts, get- ting busted by his parents, college party daze, and his even- tual stint as an outdoor Cannabis farmer, this was an enjoy- able book from cover to cover. At times SHELDON seems neu- rotic, at other times he comes off as a bit of an asshole, but throughout he remains an eminently likeable anti-hero..... SHELDON has taken the book and turned it into a one-man play. At first I was a bit skeptical, but when I saw the production at a packed house on a closing night of one of its several runs at different locations in the Bay Area, I was blown away. Simple-yet-powerful sound and lighting effects are seamlessly incorporated into SHELDON'S emotive and frequently humor- ous description of his own life's adventures. When it was over, I was left wanting more. Shows are forthcoming on November 2, 2002 in Davis, CA at the VARSITY THEATER, and from November 20-24, 2002 in Walnut Creek at the LESHER CEN- TER. Check his web site for details about these showings; if one is happening near you, it is definitely worth sparking a bowl and heading over. - JON HANNA - . . Other Book review from AMAZON.COM Tierney Smith, Relix December 2000 Throughout Confessions, Norberg makes his point about the pitfalls of drugs without sounding preachy... Judith Mattart, San Francisco Chronicle 9/03/00 Parents and teenagers should read this book together! Mike, Tribby, ALA Booklist March 2000 The cosmic adventure story of his past makes thoroughly enjoyable reading. james dishman from Pittsburgh, Pa, USA October 19, 2000 Sheldon Norberg speaks the word, I really enjoyed reading Confessions of a Dope Dealer. I picked it up and finished it in only two days. I had been looking for a good memoir about growing up as a drug dealer, and with a title like this, how could I go wrong? What I found was a curiously honest book about a young man growing up in the aftermath of the sixties, under the shadow of Raygunomics. A wonderfull read for anyone interested in dope, dealing, the Dead, or the eighties. |
