Chop's Cosmic Reporting 1.
31st October 2002 in London

Happy halloween, just had a wicked one in london with about 4000/5000 people protesting about the possible war on iraq

Plus about 250 other protest around the country (some of the english press reported only hundreds gathered, just like in LA they're on reporting on the true amount of dissent!) and other important issues happening globally.

The day began around 2pm at the imperial war museum with a 'pedal for peace'(we do not stop traffic-we are traffic!)
all around our beautiful capital slowing down the major road routes showing awareness and bringing direct action against a war with iraq.

the bike ride was also to draw attention and show the connections between the us and uk's plans for war, western society's addiction with oil and gas, climate change, visiting some of the headquarters of the companies, institutions who are set to benefit from a war with iraq.

once at the headquarters of these companies they were awarded with a 'burning planet' trophy(a pumpkin) for there contribution to conflict, injustice and climatic destabilization. (just to note none of the companies sent out a representative to receive there awards) some of the institutions visited.....

ministry of defense, american embassy, bp oil, shell, total fina elf oil, lukoil russias largest oil company, gkn they make war helicopters, lockhead martin uk worlds largest arms exporter, bae systems 75% of total sales is military equipment, they have a history of selling to repressive regimes around the world.

the bike protest ended up in parliament square around 6pm and was scheduled to coincide with the 'stop the war coalition' outside the houses of parliament, the square was packed, there was a heavy police presense and they were very heavy handed with some people, but i got it all on my dv cam so we know who the guilty are!

addressing the crowds were various politicians, trade unionists, film makers then there was a march down Whitehall to 10 Downing street, there was a staged sit down, drumming, dancing, chanting about bush/blair. again i witnessed and filmed the unprovoked attacking of the police on certain protesters who where exercising their rights in this so called democracy (check the images i'm sending you)

the march then went up into trafalgar square and onto holborn with more sit downs and various street party goings on. the whole event was wicked!

i made some great new friends,my main peoples came out and represented it was dope, through our strength of numbers and solidarity we reclaimed our streets for some time.
